Our reporter has learned from relevant authorities that Yushe Snow Mountain Ski Resort is scheduled to open to the public on January 10. Following sustained operations by more than 60 high-performance snowmaking machines, the resort has established a two-meter base of premium snow. Located at the southernmost latitude of any alpine ski resort in China and marking Guizhou’s first entry into high mountain skiing, Yushe Snow Mountain Ski Resort is drawing attention from ice and snow enthusiasts nationwide.
To meet the growing and diverse skiing demands of a broad visitor base, the resort has undertaken a comprehensive upgrade of its slope system this year. One intermediate run and one advanced run have been added, alongside the introduction of Guizhou’s first dedicated snowboard park. Together, these additions form a complete tiered system that accommodates skiers and riders from entry level participants to experienced professionals. The snowboard park features a 21.6-degree gradient across a 200-meter course and includes professional terrain elements such as jumps and wave-tyle features, providing a specialized environment for technical performance and skill display. The ski runs are built into the natural contours of a 56,000 mu national forest park, allowing visitors to ski through expansive snow-covered woodland. At an elevation of 2,300 meters, the resort offers what is described as a cloud top skiing experience, a distinction that sets it apart among southern China’s winter destinations. The resort has added more than 5,000 sets of equipment, including 500 snowboards and 1,100 pairs of skis, raising its daily capacity to as many as 12,000 visitors.
Beyond skiing itself, the resort has introduced four immersive recreational zones, broadening the scope of its winter offerings and enriching the overall visitor experience. Within what is presented as a real world Wintertopia, non player characters dressed in animal costumes lead visitors through pop up performances and interactive games set amid forest and snow-covered landscapes. Participants can earn virtual gold coins, which may be redeemed for perks such as specialty beverages, extended ski sessions, and other on-site rewards. The dinosaur and nine-tailed fox installations, along with tumbling dolls and yellow duck sleds, create an immersive atmosphere rich in fairy tale imagery. The newly upgraded Fluffy Southern Train has been reimagined as a mobile social media landmark. As it winds through the forest, it offers visitors a slow-paced journey framed as a romantic excursion through a storybook landscape. Designed with nostalgia in mind, the “gentle slope” ice and snow park draws inspiration from a familiar childhood pastime in Guizhou, the simple joy of sliding down a slope. A purpose-built gentle snow track allows visitors of all ages to enjoy snow tubing together, making it especially well suited to family outings and shared parent-child experiences. Also making its first appearance is the Y.SKY photography base, which functions both as a popular backdrop for visually striking photos and as a hub for local culinary culture. Visitors can enjoy signature regional dishes such as rich mutton soup hotpot, sizzling griddle style Luoguo, and hearty free range chicken hotpot, all prepared on site. A large scale communal Luoguo feast, designed for hundreds of diners to cook and share together, has become a highlight of the experience. Combined with Liupanshui-themed collectible merchandise and regularly scheduled snowfield electronic music parties, Y.SKY has quickly evolved into a vibrant social and cultural hub for younger visitors.
The resort has retained its established skiing and hot spring holiday model while introducing a more integrated, one stop experience. A single ski ticket now includes admission to Baiche River Hot Springs and round-trip access to the Southern Train. Visitors can spend the morning on the slopes before unwinding in 55℃ hot spring pools in the afternoon. The second phase of the Baiche River Hot Spring Hotel has also undergone a full intelligent upgrade, further enhancing comfort and convenience for overnight guests. The resort has introduced exclusive preferential offers for members of the Shuicheng District Federation of Trade Unions. Under the program, ski tickets are offered at a fixed price of 68 yuan, while hot spring admission is available from 28 yuan. Digital services have also been streamlined with the launch of Liupanshui’s official tourism mini program on WeChat. Visitors can purchase tickets, reserve equipment, book instructors, and check real time snow conditions through a single interface, enabling a unified code-based entry system that significantly reduces on-site waiting times.
Transport connectivity is being strengthened in parallel. A direct shuttle service linking the city center with the ski resort is currently in final testing and will begin operating on January 10, the official opening day. The journey is expected to take approximately 40 minutes.
By integrating professional-level skiing, family-oriented snow activities, regional cuisine, and hot spring wellness, Yushe ski resort is positioning itself to offer a differentiated and comprehensive winter sports experience through a broad portfolio of upgraded products and services.
