On December 7, the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 Liupanshui Skiing Season was held at the Meihua Mountain International Ski Resort.
This year's skiing season serves as a lively ice and snow sports meeting, an educational and entertaining winter camp, a time-traveling ice and snow wonderland, and even a hearty culinary carnival. The themed activities, preferential policies, and four major regional premium tourism routes during the skiing season were successively unveiled at the ceremony.
It is learned that this skiing season will feature a variety of exciting ice and snow sports events, including the Guizhou Provincial Land Curling Open, the Youth Winter Sunshine Sports Convention, the Speed Skating Open, and the Children's Balance Bike Open. Additionally, fun competitions such as snow football, snow tug-of-war, and nametag ripping contests will be organized for employees from 13 friendly cities within and outside the province, allowing them to foster team spirit and feel the warmth of camaraderie amidst laughter.
To enable more primary and secondary school students to experience the joy of skiing, 100,000 "Experience Vouchers for Ice and Snow Sports on Campus" will be distributed during the skiing season. The ski resort will open for one and a half hours daily, offering free professional skiing instruction to these students and allowing them to enjoy the fun and gain growth in the snow. Moreover, a winter skiing camp will be carefully planned, where children can not only revel in the joy of gliding on snow but also participate in the New Year's calligraphy and painting exhibition to experience artistic charm, engage in intangible cultural heritage handicrafts to appreciate cultural features, join folk parades to understand traditional culture, and reflect on the history in the Third-Front Movement period to inherit the spirit.
Most notably, a meticulously designed "Snowy Village in Southwest China" themed area will make its debut at the Meihua Mountain International Ski Resort. This area boasts nearly a hundred snow-covered wooden cabins, vibrant Northeast Yangko pop-up shows, bustling "Snowy Village in the Chinese New Year" temple fairs, and cheerful "Song of Ice and Fire" intangible cultural heritage shows. Visitors can also take photos with adorable Antarctic penguins, cute white foxes, and loyal and brave Alaskan malamutes, immersing themselves in the charm of a northern snow landscape. In the Yushe National Forest Park, a real-life version of "Zootopia" has been created with its vast forest resources. Visitors can ride the "Southwest China Ice & Snow Train" through the "Snowy Forest," encounter Judy and Nick, and participate in the "Zootopia" themed parade. Moreover, they can "soar" to the clouds for an exciting skiing experience or unwind in the hot springs at Baichehe.
Food is also an indispensable part of this ice and snow feast. The ski resort has introduced local specialties such as Shuicheng lamb soup pot, thousand-person Luoguo (a local griddle dish), Cichong chicken hot pot, Rosa Roxburghii pastry, Northeast-flavored stew, and Zhenfeng Zongzi, paired with signature beverages like Rosa Roxburghii beer and matcha craft beer, allowing visitors to immediately embark on a culinary journey after their ice and snow activities. The "Cool City's Souvenirs" cultural and creative products and the "Citywide Shopping Spree" New Year's shopping festival provide visitors with a rich selection to "take beautiful memories home."
In addition, to enhance convenience for visitors, Liupanshui has launched "Ice & Snow Direct Shuttles" connecting high-speed rail stations, bus terminals, and major ski resorts, and optimized ticket purchase processes by introducing online reservation services to ensure smooth travel for visitors.
Zeng Xiaofang, Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Publicity Department, and Head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Liupanshui Municipal Committee, presided over a press conference, where Xiang Ping, Vice Mayor of the Liupanshui Municipal People's Government, attended along with relevant officials in charge of the people's governments of Zhongshan District, Liuzhi Special District, Panzhou City, and Shuicheng District.
