The mild climate has made Liupanshui into an enchanting summer resort. On July 26, The Cool City of China Liupanshui - Climate, Health and Tourism Forum, co-hosted by Chinese Meteorological Society, Liupanshui Municipal People's Government, Guizhou Bureau of Meteorology, and Guizhou Tourism Development Committee, was held in Liangdu Sports Center. Experts and scholars from all around the world gathered here to share their experience on the development of "climate and tourism, climate and health, and climate and economy", and to explore innovative ways to promote the exploitation and utilization of climate resources.
Qin Dahe (Member of the Standing Committee and Deputy Director of Subcommittee of Human Resources and Environment of the CPPCC, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Honorary President of Chinese Meteorological Society, former Director of China Meteorological Administration, and former President of Chinese Meteorological Society) attended the forum and presided over the keynote speech. Yu Rucong (Member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC, Vice President of Chinese Meteorological Society, and Deputy Director of China Meteorological Administration) delivered a speech. Zhai Panmao, Secretary General of Chinese Meteorological Society and Chair of the IPCC Working Group I, read out the Liangdu Consensus. The guests who attended the forum include Hans-Otto Pörtner, Chair of the IPCC's Working Group II, Andreas Fischlin, Vice Chair of the IPCC's Working Group II, Philippus Wester, chief scientist on water resource management of ICIMOD, Zhao Guangzhong, Director of Guizhou Bureau of Meteorology, as well as the Director of the Climate Center of the Thai Meteorological Department, Director of Malaysia Penang Weather Bureau, and Deputy Director of Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics.
Liupanshui Party Secretary Zhou Rong delivered a speech. Deputy Party Secretary and secretary of politics and law committee Wei Xiongjun made his concluding remarks and declared the closing of the forum. Leaders from the Municipal Standing Committee, Standing Committee of the Liupanshui Municipal People's Congress, Liupanshui Municipal Government, and CPPCC members attended the forum. Deputy Mayor Zhang Tao presided over the opening ceremony.
Climate experts and scholars from home and abroad made their keynote speeches at the forum. Representatives from Liupanshui, Chengkou County of Chongqing, Lishui of Zhejiang, Shangluo of Shaanxi and other cities accredited by Chinese Meteorological Society and those applying for license from Chinese Meteorological Society exchanged views on the exploration and utilization of climate resources, tourism development in mountain areas, study on advantages of climate-related health care, promotion of climate-related health care, industrial transformation and upgrade, and sustainable development. Representatives from different counties (cities, special districts and districts) signed eight projects that worth RMB8.865 billion with enterprise representatives from Guizhou Tianbao Culture and Tourism Development Co., Ltd, Yunnan Dibei Culture Industry Development Co., Ltd, and Chengdu Dazhentang Artwork Co., Ltd.
A total of over 600 people, including representatives from Guiyang, Lishui, Ulanqab and other cities accredited by Chinese Meteorological Society and those applying for license from Chinese Meteorological Society, people in charge of climate and tourism issues in cities of Guizhou Province, representatives from enterprises and tourism agencies of Southeast Asia, Dalian, Chengdu, Chongqing, and other sources of visitors, news media of the country, leaders of departments directly under Liupanshui Municipal Government and those from different counties (cities, special districts and districts), and other industry representatives, attended the forum.
